Jay Carey, District Governor

DG/PDG Lion Jay Carey became a member of the Washington Court House Lions Club in June, 1991, when invited to join by Lion Robert Willis. Since his induction, he served as Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President, and President. He currently serves as Club Secretary.

Lion Jay served as Chair of Zone 2 for three years and has served on the District Cabinet since 2001. He has served as District Membership Chair and 13-J Representative on the Ohio Lions Membership Committee. He previously served as District Governor during the 2006-2007 Lions year. For his outstanding service to Ohio Lions and to 13-J, Lion Jay received the Council Chair Award of Excellence and the International President’s Award in 2005. He has also received four International President’s Certificates of Appreciation.

DG/PDG Jay is currently a Trustee and Chairperson for the State Building Committee and has also served on the State Leadership Committee where he is involved with training new leaders of Lions from around Ohio. He was elected to serve as Vice Council Chair for 2010-11 at the MD-13 Convention in May, 2010.

A graduate of New Vienna High School and The Ohio State University, Jay is retired from the insurance business.

Lion Jay is married to Carol who retired as Executive Director of American Red Cross in Fayette County. Jay has two children and four grandchildren, all living in the Columbus area.
