Charles Newland, District Governor
Lion Charlie joined the Leesburg Lions Club in Sept. 1985. He served as Secretary/Treasurer, Membership Chairman, BD, President, Zone 3 Chairman, District 13J Rep to USA/Canada Leadership Forum Host Committee, Lions-Quest Coordinator, and Co-Chair for Campaign Sight First II. Lion Charlie is a highly motivated speaker and enthusiastic presenter who uses exemplars (life experiences) to simplify difficult to understand materials. He completed Senior Lions Leadership Training in 2003, a Certified Guiding Lion, has attended four International Conventions, six USA/Canada Leadership Forums, several state conventions ( KY State in 2006), and several Fall Conferences. He received LCI's President's Leadership Award 2006-07, an MD13 Counsel Chairman's Award of Excellence 2006-07, and the International President's Certificate of Appreciation 2003-04. He has been instrumental in developing Lions-Quest in MD13 and currently serves the MD as the Lions-Quest Ad Hoc Committee Chairman.
He is a retired Naval Officer, part-time farmer, certified Math/Chemistry teacher with Administrative Credentials, and an avid athlete in years gone by. He has worked with State and International Officers in starting new clubs and has assisted several 13J clubs.
Lion Charlie and wife Lion Jay have been married for 45 years and have four children, and nine grandchildren.
